K. Rhode’s Lawn Care Inc. (KLC) has been in business for 26 years. Ken Rhode as a sole proprietorship established it in 1982. It is now incorporated and is a family run business.
It all began when Ken purchased a 1970’s old yellow Suburban, a couple of 21″ push mowers, and an electric weed eater, and began mowing neighbors’ lawns. After he saved enough funds to purchase ads in Lafayette’s Mail Advertiser, his business began to grow.
Eventually, Ken had to hire employees to help him keep up with the demand of his successful business. In order to compete with larger lawn care services, KLC became a complete lawn care service by additionally providing landscaping, fertilization, and snow removal services.
Levi, Ken’s first-born son, at the age of nine, began working with his father on the weekends. As the years passed, Levi continued to work with his dad during his summer school breaks and learned about the lawn care and landscaping business. Levi developed the aspiration to one day run the family business.
Levi, now seventeen, runs the lawn maintenance and a portion of the landscaping business with the help of our qualified and experienced employees. Ken runs the fertilization programs, estimation and public relations.
